My friend, Demetrius, recently returned from Cambodia after having done mission work there for a year. He asked if I could create a hand out card for a bible study he is having on September 21 called “House of Hope”. His idea was to do a spoof on the Obama Hope campaign….and Jesus-a-tize it.
And that my friends, is exactly what I did.
Check out the design and if you happen to be a Scrantonian, check out the “House of Hope.” It’s from 7-9pm at the Jermyn Apartments, 326 Spruce Street, Scranton. There will be coffee provided.

My friend Emma left for India at the beginning of this month. I designed a quick blog for her to record her travel experiences so she could keep us up to date. Matt deployed it. (As he is my fuction-master.. and I’m all form baby)
She’s a beautiful writer, and her posts thus far encapsulate such a plethera of emotions, it’d be a shame not to live vicariously through her blog.
So check it out!

AHHH!
I haven’t been updating this. Sometimes when I get so caught up in designing for clients I completely forget to update my blog. Shame on me. Anyway, I’m proud to say that I won 2nd place for my personal website and won 1st place for my Buy Nothing Day 08 Flash Animation. I’d like to thank the West Virginia Flash Festival for allowing me to be a part of this competition.

Hey Everyone,
Being a designer, I’m not only aware that I have an impact visually on people but environmentally as well. From the things I print to the ink I’m printing with… surely these practices could bring some problems to the forefront. Needless to say us conscientious designers may be slapped in the face with costs that are higher for recycled paper and vegetable-based inks, but all in all these practices are worth the higher cost to reduce our ecological footprint.

Last year, I created a flash animation promoting Buy Nothing Day 2008- Buy Nothing Day takes place on Black Friday and obviously promotes buying…you guessed it….NOTHING. I understand that to survive we need to buy necessities, but the average American spent around $347 on Black Friday alone in 2007 (and I probably wasn’t on necessities). I’m not suggesting that every American should never spend again (with the economy as it currently stands..which is more like…crumbling than standing), but to instead rethink what we are spending our (hard-earned) money on.
Research where your money is going.
Buy locally

At the beginning of February, Scranton’s Vintage Theater participated in First Friday for the first time. Myself, Matt Artz, and John Walezak displayed various b & w shots to help raise more funds (in addition to what we had already raised) for La Hacienda Esmeralda in Panama. Overall, it was great company and brought people to the theater that had not known about it’s existence prior.

I am a graphic designer dedicated and passionate about what I design. I’m fascinated with the impact design has on the public, and I want to use design as an outlet to speak to people across many levels.
I believe design should help, not hinder the environment. Therefore, a designer should be aware of how they impact the environment through printed materials.
I believe design should help people. It should help people promote health & well-being, it should bring families & friends closer together, bring good companies with good values to the surface.
I’m inspired by many things found in nature. Trees, birds, plant life, I grew up loving the woods.
Other cultures have also impacted me and the way I design. I’m interested in how visual communication & under- standing differs across cultures.
In design there should be a balance between clarity, efficiency, creativity, and form. A good designer should always be aware of what they are communicating and know if they are doing it effectively.
I am a person that enjoys making things. I think anyone can relate to that.
